A few weekends ago, I was on a canoe trip in Algonquin Park with another family. One of the adults brought along a book on local trees that included a chart showing peak fall foliage dates over the past 30 years. In Algonquin, the sweet spot is usually the last week of September.

Fast forward to this week: on a lunchtime mountain bike ride, I started noticing those first splashes of color along the trail—ahh, fall is on its way.
